Kevin Trudeau, the million-selling author, infomercial star and convicted felon, swears that his new health guide, "More Natural 'Cures' Revealed," is 100 percent true. Make that 100 percent true "in essence." "My point is I don't want to be caught in what is true, what isn't true, what is opinion, what is an idea," Trudeau, whose self-published "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About," thrived despite his criminal past and other legal run-ins, told The Associated Press in a recent interview. "More Natural Cures," released in May and also self-published, is a sequel to "Natural Cures," a defense of "Natural Cures" and an advertisement for "Natural Cures," which advocates that diseases from diabetes to cancer can be treated without drugs or medical procedures.

NEW YORK (AP) - Kevin Trudeau, the million-selling author, infomercial star and convicted felon, swears that his new health guide, ``More Natural `Cures' Revealed,'' is 100 percent true. Current evidence suggests that suffering from back pain can actually shrink your brain. This is worrying because back pain is a common health problem worldwide. Back pain affects up to two-thirds of the adult population annually, which alone causes huge losses due to days off from work and school. Managing back pain is more important than ever, not only because of its economic costs, but also because of the newly discovered negative effect it has on the brain. The good news is that back pain research has shown that simple methods can be very effective in reducing back pain. Recent findings have established that acupressure, an ancient Chinese healing technique, is more effective than standard physical therapies in relieving back pain. Acupressure uses the same points as acupuncture, but instead of needles, acupressure uses only the fingertips.
(NewsTarget) A study published in the July issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that a diet rich in vitamin E and alpha-lipoic acid may slow the development of blindness caused by retinitis pigmentosa (RP), in which the rods and cones in the retina die off unexpectedly, causing permanent blindness. "To test this, we used antioxidants, which protect cells from oxygen damage, and since they allowed many more cones to survive, it proves that the suspect is guilty," says Lead researcher Peter Campochiaro. Previously scientists knew that patients with RP went blind because of the damage, but they didn't know what caused it. Because of the difficulty of the study and the lack of patentability of the cure, the efficacy of vitamin E may never be formally tested enough to be accepted as a treatment by the FDA.
(NewsTarget) Abraham Cherrix -- the Virginia teen who has been court-ordered to undergo chemotherapy for his Hodgkin's Disease after opting to treat his condition with an herbal diet -- says he will defy the court's order and refuse chemotherapy. Cherrix says he refuses to subject himself to chemotherapy, which he tried after his initial diagnosis. The chemo made him feel sick, though his cancer briefly went into remission before returning earlier this year. If Cherrix were to submit to the court order, the radiation level for his chemo would be increased. "I think it's my body. I can choose what's best for my body," says Cherrix. "If I don't have the right to do that, then I don't have any rights at all anyway." Cherrix has been seeing American doctors based in Mexico for five months for guidance with his herbal diet, with the blessing of his parents.
The rain starts and stops, starts and stops, as cool winds shuffle clouds over the thick, green slopes of Kalihi Valley. On the back porch of a small wooden house, within earshot of Likelike Highway and just 10 minutes from downtown Honolulu, Solomon Enos gently pushes a ti leaf stalk into a plastic pot half-filled with dirt. Once the stalk is steady, Enos sets the pot on the ground, slaps dirt from his hands and picks up a fresh sapling. It is with this measured pace, Enos says, that a 100-acre parcel at the base of the valley will be transformed over the coming decades from an illegal dumping ground overgrown with invasive bamboo and albizia trees into a jewel of urban greenery. Since December 2004, when Kokua Kalihi Valley got a 20-year lease for the land, hundreds of volunteers and staff members have cleared paths for future hiking trails, rooted out alien plants to make way for acres of community gardens, formed the beginnings of a hula mound and hauled away tons of trash, from tires to furniture to construction supplies.
(NewsTarget) Abraham Cherrix -- the Virginia teen with Hodgkin's disease who has been fighting to avoid court-ordered chemotherapy since May -- has been granted an appeal in Accomack County Circuit Court by Judge Glen Tyler, who suspended a lower court judge's earlier ruling requiring Abraham to report to a hospital for chemotherapy. Tyler also returned full custody of Abraham to his parents pending his new trial on Aug.16, which will be open to the public, unlike Abraham's first trial. "I feel like I have been released," Abraham said after Tyler's decision was announced. The 16-year-old has opted to treat his cancer with the Hoxsey method, an alternative treatment consisting of an organic diet and herbal supplementation. After being diagnosed with Hodgkin's, Abraham underwent chemotherapy, but felt weak, nauseated and feverish.
